10 Indie Rock Bands That Released 5 Great Albums In A Row
4. The 1975
The 1975 have remained one of the most intriguing voices in the world of pop music today. For as many songs like "The Sound" can find their way onto playlists, there is always something more to the band that goes beyond just a catchy tune. While the albums have certainly increased in length since their start, a good amount of quality tunes are available on every one of them.
As far back as the band's first proper EPs like Music For Cars and IV, they were already honing in on their sonic mix of pop, rock, shoegaze, and experimental music, which paid off in spades once they reached their self-titled studio debut. Though every track on their first record could have been a single cut, their followup I Like It When You Sleep brought an '80s sheen to their sound while also showing their strengths at pulling off a full album experience.
Going even further into uncharted territory, A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships ended up being one of the greatest albums of the year upon release, as the band took influences from everything from jazz to hip hop. While their latest effort Notes on a Conditional Form has had a mixed reception, the musicianship on display is too good to be marked as just passable. With frontman Matt Healy saying that this latest record might be their last for a while, it seems that these guys have earned a break considering this amazing run of modern classics.
