10 Killer Tunes For A Heavy Metal Christmas

1. Alice Cooper - Santa Claws Is Coming To Town

At the top of our countdown sits Alice Cooper and his amazing sense of humour, which is reflected particularly well in the video for this dark festive treat, which is probably more likely to give a child nightmares about the visit of a fat man delivering presents on Christmas Eve than expecting his arrival with gleeful joy. If Alice asks you to watch out for something then you better make sure you do it. Cooper needs to be credited with the lines "he knows where you live... he knows your windows open... he knows what's under your bed" and for absolutely terrifying children nationwide. The song was originally written in 1934 (in its traditional version at least) and was a hit based on orders of sheet music - the style in the day - with 400,000 copies ordered between November and December for families hoping to sing their own version around the piano. Bruce Springsteen fans remember this song with particular fondness as the late Clarence Clemons would normally dress as Santa during live performances. As always with this site participation is mandatory so please get in touch and mention your favourite Killer Christmas Tunes in the comments thread.
