5. Twisted Sister - Silver Bells
Finally - says Dee Snider in promotion of this album - a metal Christmas album, and Snider's obvious excitement for Twisted Sister's festive collection channels exactly what the people have been screaming out for over the years. Chances are if this track doesn't sit well with you, you're unlikely to go out and buy the album, but it's a must-have for Twisted Sister fans, and the brilliant video is a beautiful swirling cliche of metal expectations, featuring a new mother being bombarded by provocatively dressed metal fans and bikers. It might interest you to know that "Silver Bells" was first performed by Bob Hope and Marilyn Maxwell in the motion picture The Lemon Drop Kid and that in 2009 a cover of this song by Sir Terry Wogan and Aled Jones charted at No 27 in the UK. Dee Snider's version is vastly superior, to be quite honest with you, though it was never as likely to trouble the charts. If you're going to hunt down this version of the song it's strongly recommended that you spring for the entire album too because it features a number of utterly hilarious - and rocking - Christmas tunes.
