10 Legendary Artists That Never Saw Their Last Music Record Come Out

1. Made in Heaven - Queen

When Freddie Mercury was first diagnosed with AIDS, there was no way that he had any hope of surviving past the late '80s. One of the greatest frontmen in rock and roll wasn't going to go down without a fight though, and Freddie persevered through albums like Innuendo and The Miracle while still dealing with his disease, even laying down some of the best vocals of his career on songs like The Show Must Go On. Freddie had a vow to make music until his dying day, and the last vocals that he ever gave us were preserved for when the rest of the band could do them justice.

Being comprised of both collaborative songs and solo cuts, much of Made in Heaven is the members of Queen coming together to turn Freddie's final sketches into proper songs, with tracks like It's a Beautiful Day and A Winter's Tale having the same energy that Freddie did when he was in top form. While the album does follow the concept of loss a lot through lyrics like Too Much Love Will Kill You and My Life Has Been Saved, nothing could have prepared us for a song like Mother Love, featuring one of the greatest performances Freddie would ever give only to come to the heartbreaking final verse where Brian May picks up the vocals for his friend who couldn't finish them in time.

This album might have just been meant to give the fans as much as they could before Freddie expired, but it stands more as a test of endurance all the way through. We never know when we're going to meet our maker, but here's hoping that whenever that day comes, we can face it with half the bravery that Freddie did towards the end.
