10 Legendary Concept Records Of The 2010's

8. Nonagon Infinity - King Gizzard and Lizard Wizard

Everyone has that one album in their collection that seems to be in constant rotation. For as many other bands might come and go in your arsenal, there's always that album that seems to play on loop in your brain for years to come. Every album has to end eventually though, but King Gizzard really tested that theory on Nonagon Infinity.

While it basically takes a mad genius to track every single thing going on in the Gizzverse, Nonagon Infinity is one of the most insane concepts for an album, making a collection of tracks that never ends from the moment that it starts. In the age of streaming, this is practically unheard of, and yet these guys made it work with their strange Frank Zappa like energy, weaving together bits and pieces of hard rock and even metal in some places to create an album that plays on loop in your mind.

The minute that the last track ends on the original record, it ends up flipping back around to the first track, so you can keep playing this thing until the end of time and it'll all make sense. Most of the time, something like this feels more like a gimmick than an actual artistic project, but the guys in King Gizzard are aware of what they're doing. For a band that manages to put out what seems like 18 albums every single year, it's all about putting the proper love and care into the project every single time.
