10 Legendary Rock Bands That Aren't In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
3. Oasis
Since the very beginning of their career, Oasis seemed to have a bit of a complicated relationship with the US. Even though the Hall in Cleveland has adopted some of the most celebrated rock acts in the world, these scrappy lads from Manchester never managed to fully crack the States, more often because of in fighting and disastrous gigs, including one at the Whisky a Go Go where half the band were out of their mind on drugs. Once you step out of the States though, there's something much bigger going on than just Wonderwall jokes.
Compared to the rest of the grunge scene a few years prior, Oasis had the same impact in Britain as Nirvana did in the States, becoming one the cornerstone bands of the Britpop genre and defining an era of rock and roll for a new generation of kids. Even if not every album has been a great outing (hello, Heathen Chemistry), Noel Gallagher's brand of songwriting checks all of the boxes for a classic rock outfit, from paying respect to legends like the Beatles and the Stones to carrying yourself like one of the greatest bands on the planet.
While it might have just been considered a throwback to the '60s back in the day, there's a whole legion of kids who were introduced to the power of rock and roll the minute they heard tracks like Live Forever or Supersonic, along with anthems like Don't Look Back In Anger showing their more sensitive side. Oasis may not have been the most inventive band to come out of the '90s, but chances are you wouldn't find anyone that decade prouder of their rock and roll credentials.
