10 Legendary Rock Bands That Aren't In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
4. Soundgarden
For every single rock snob that's waiting with baited breath, it's time that we come to the conclusion that we will never see another band like Led Zeppelin. The kind of mystique and aura that comes with one of the greatest bands in history is impossible to match, and no amount of copycatting from the likes of Greta Van Fleet is going to sway anyone's opinion by any stretch. And if we're being honest, we already had the definitive answer to Led Zeppelin back in the '90s when they were called Soundgarden.
Outside of Chris Cornell's trademark vocal delivery sounding like Robert Plant, the amount of complexity and adventure that was put into every single Soundgarden record was miles ahead of their grunge counterparts, melding different time signatures together on a song like Rusty Cage and turning in some of the meanest riffs that Jimmy Page would have killed to say he had written like Spoonman and Outshined. If the band were to get inducted now though, it would only be bittersweet knowing that a crucial piece of the puzzle isn't there anymore.
Without Chris Cornell, a full reunion isn't really in the equation anymore, but having a ceremony for them could make for something special on its own, whether that means getting the Rage guys from the days of Audioslave to play tribute tunes or having the members of Temple of the Dog come back for one more run to pay their respect to the man that helped them get back on their feet. After years of being left out of the running, Soundgarden were always royalty of the '90s rock scene, and a ceremony would be a great moment to see the prodigal son returning.
