Good Riddance was obviously more chilled out, contemplating song compared to most Green Day songs. To contrast this, Green Day included the song "Desensitized" as a B side when the single was released. It couldn't have been more different from the lead track, starting off with smashing sounds created by Mike Dirnt. The song itself was a typical fast paced Green Day song taking a satirical look at how the media views disaster with cutting lyrics, referring to the vulture-like news coverage of big tragedies. Desensitized was included on the B-Side collection "Shenanigans," released in 2002.
