10 Lost Albums From Famous Rock Musicians

6. Cold Cuts - Paul McCartney

Considering the man has released approximately 40 billion songs over his long career, it's hard to imagine there are any Paul McCartney tracks that haven't seen the light of day.

But the ones that are out there are just the tip of the iceberg.

In Macca-obsessive circles, the words "Cold Cuts" are legendary. They correspond to a mythical collection of unreleased demos and fully-realised tracks, which has been around in the zeitgeist since 1987.

Also known as Hot Hitz/Kold Kutz, the original idea behind this mysterious compilation was to serve as a budget release between albums from McCartney's group Wings. The ex-Beatle returned to the project many times, before he put a permanent stop to it in 1987.

By this point, the potential tracklist had changed more than the weather in a typical English summer. Whilst some of the demos have turned up online in various forms over the years, Cold Cuts does not officially exist in the McCartney folio.

It's not all bad news though. A number of original songs were recorded under the guise that they would be packaged with the outtakes, including the Wings favourite, Junior's Farm.
