10 Lost Albums That Were Released Years Later
6. Household Objects - Pink Floyd
After Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd had pretty much reached the point where they could do no wrong. Chances are that you could have made an entire album out of David Gilmour having a conversation with his dentist and it probably would have sold like gangbusters at the time. And to test that theory, the Floyd were actually intending to go for broke on their super-weird album Household Objects.
And yes I do mean weird, too. Much like the title would imply, this entire album was supposed to be an experimental project for the band much like their album Ummagumma, which would involve them creating full songs using nothing more than just recording technology and different objects that you'd find around the house, from cooking irons to an actual fridge.
When the band got off the road though, there was no chance of them being on the same creative page for something like that, being absolutely exhausted and channeling their disillusion into the songs off of Wish You Were Here. In this case, it was probably the right call, especially when you realize how important Wish You Were Here is in the legend of the Floyd. From the original demos though, it still sounds like Household Objects would have certainly been a trip.
