10 Massive Albums That Never Lived Up To The Hype

8. Milk and Honey - John Lennon

It really felt like the rock world lost a friend when John Lennon was shot at his home in New York City. Though John was no saint while he was alive, his music helped give some sense of stability to most of us when times looked grim, and he even seemed to be looking forward to his middle age years on his comeback album Double Fantasy. There were some songs left over though, and after the proper grieving process, Yoko came back to give us the last gasps of what John had to give.

Then again, most Lennon fans are probably going to be disappointed knowing that half of this album is Yoko songs, but that’s just because there’s hardly anything left that John had recorded before his passing. Even in their rough form though, songs like Nobody Told Me and Steppin Out have so much life to them, as John looks forward to returning to the nightlife that he had missed for so long when he was at home raising his son Sean.

There are even a handful of ballads on the project that remind you of the sentimental Lennon behind everything like Grow Old With Me, which would eventually be considered by the rest of the Beatles to rework for the Beatles Anthology almost a decade later. The John that we know may have died that cold night in New York, but the guy that was so full of life lives on in every one of these songs.
