10 Massive Albums That Never Lived Up To The Hype
7. Made in Heaven - Queen
It would have been completely understandable if Queen decided to stop the minute that Freddie Mercury passed away. Though the band were meant to be an equal partnership, replacing one of the greatest frontmen in rock history was no easy feat, and the next few years saw them paying tribute to their fallen friend and honoring the man’s legacy. But what about the songs that Freddie had left over?
While the idea of hearing all new Queen material after Freddie’s passing may have sent fans into a frenzy, most of what turns up on Made In Heaven is the most that Freddie could do in his physically impaired state, only coming into the studio when he felt well enough to actually work.
Though his bandmates do pick up the slack like Brian May’s amazing new rendition of Too Much Love Will Kill You, Freddie was still the master of everything bombastic about Queen, making one of his most emotionally gripping performances on the song Mother Love, not surviving long enough to complete the final version but still giving it his all regardless. Even though Made in Heaven may not have been the high note that some fans wanted Queen to end on, this more than earns its spot as one of the most important albums that the band ever made.
