10 Messiest Band Splits In Rock Music History
5. Aerosmith
There's something to be said about bands that keep the same lineup throughout their entire career. With all of the industry BS that gets in the way of playing the music you love, these are the bands that never let any of the middle men come in between their brotherhood bond. While Aerosmith falls into that category, it was definitely on the rocks for a little bit.
Coming to the end of the '70s, Aerosmith were abusing cocaine left and right and getting more and more passive aggressive with each other. When going on tour to support their album Draw the Line, the band made the big mistake of trying to bring their wives into the equation, which made arguments between Steven Tyler and Joe Perry grow even nastier.
After playing one of the biggest gigs of the tour, a fight erupted backstage which ended with Joe's wife Elyssa throwing a gallon of milk across the room. As if to fulfill the cliche, that turned out to be the final straw, with Joe packing up his guitar and leaving the band for a few years. And you could feel it too, with most of the records released afterwards leaving Aerosmith as a shell of what they once were. Though they learned to patch things up at the dawn of the '80s, this was definitely a dark time for the Bad Boys from Boston.
