10 Metal Bands Who Made 5 Great Albums In A Row
6. Type O Negative
Showered in green and black, bleakly moody and covered in flowing hair, Type O Negative were the uber-sexy, self-deprecating kings of horny goth rock. Fronted by the iconic 6'8" hunk Peter Steele, Type O Negative were a band often misunderstood because of their misanthropic, glum and evil lyrics. Labelled as misogynists and murderers, some people just didn’t understand the magic that Type O were making, but that hasn’t stopped them from becoming iconic goth legends.
With an ability to make their vampiric anthems into strangely Beatles-esque bangers, Type O’s run of greatness begins with 1993's Bloody Kisses and continues through October Rust (1996), World Coming Down (1999), Life Is Killing Me (2003) and Dead Again (2007). If you don’t know much about the band, those album titles give away the story of sardonic self-hatred but you’ll have to listen to hear their humour and creative flair.
Type O Negative managed to make perfect dreamy pop whilst dying in gloom. They were romantic legends, gothic innovators and witty auteurs and they're sorely missed.
