10 Metal Bands You Need To Hear Now

8. Light Bearer

timthumb.php Current Release: Silver Tongue Label: Halo of Flies Records Formed from the ashes of the short lived but relatively legendary UK vegan/crust band Fall of Efrafa, Light Bearer carries the same conceptual heft as their forbears but instead of using Richard Adams and his atheistic talking rabbits and diatribes on anti religion and government, the bible is the source of their inspiration, specifically the fall of Lucifer. Two albums into a planned trilogy, Light Bearer's Silver Tongue follows up their critically acclaimed 2011 debut, Lapsus with an equally ambitious sound. Taking nods from the likes of Isis and Neurosis, Light Bearer fall into the post rock realm, but do it with a intellectual density and elegance that few bands, if any can match. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V-75Yl8G6s Vinyl aficionados will appreciate the band's visual aesthetic, with a simply gorgeous gate-fold release adorned with stunning artwork and detailed linear notes explaining the LPs themes and concepts. And those who like moving, breathtaking music will simply appreciate the album's 20 minute title track complete with heavenly choirs, rumbling percussion and a mid section that will move you to tears. Hopefully this band will last longer than Fall of Efrafa and their Warren of Snares trilogy, and continue to be one of musics most brilliant acts- in any genre. Oh and by the way, the band is giving a way the digital version of the album for free.

I am metal. I am so metal I ejaculate mercury. OK, love puppies, pro football and my daughter, so how's that for balance? I own a little metal blog called teethofthedivine.com and used to write for Metal Maniacs, Unrestrained magazines and currently help out with Hails and Horns and New Noise magazines. Yeah- I guess I am metal.
