10 More Bands Who Had Huge Potential (But Wasted It)

9. Glamour Of The Kill

Formed in 2007 in York - that most famous of rock cities - post-hardcore band Glamour of the Kill made good headway in their early years, touring with the likes of Bullet for My Valentine and Avenged Sevenfold ahead of the release of their first album.

The Summoning came out in 2011 and was given some very good press. Then came the follow-up, 2013’s Savages, which continued these positive trends. However, the good times were not to last.

In 2015, shortly after they had completed tours with Heaven’s Basement and Motionless in White, Glamour of the Kill made the shocking announcement that they were done. In a statement on their Facebook page, the band cited the financial strain of international touring as the main reason for their split and said that there were no plans for them to do anything together for the foreseeable future.

It’s hard to fully argue that this band “wasted” their potential, but if they had managed to make themselves financially viable, there’s every chance they might have been much bigger.

Money isn’t everything, but it sure does help.
