10 More Great Rock Music Singles That Never Appeared On An Album
3. Itchycoo Park - The Small Faces
Ok, fine, no funny business with this one. Just a straight-up non-album single for you. Happy now?
The Small Faces could have been one of the biggest bands in British history had their initial run lasted longer than four years. Whilst they would eventually evolve into the band Faces, which gave both Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart their start, the original incarnation's existence was short, but oh so sweet.
One of their most admired singles from that initial period is Itchycoo Park, a song about going to a beautiful green space with some pals and getting absolutely wasted. As well being extremely popular, the song also helped perpetuate the use of flanging, a recording technique that can be heard on the drums during the bridge.
Although it was included in the group's US release There Are But Four Small Faces, Itchycoo Park was only ever available as a single in the UK. Even when it was re-released in 1975, it was kept away from LPs.
Even the dance version by US group M People was only included on the reissued version of their third album! Is this song cursed or something?
