10 More Hugely Outspoken Men In Rock And Metal Music

6. Chris Taylor Brown

Some people on this list have taken the opportunity to redact offensive comments and apologise for their actions. However, Trapt's Chris Taylor Brown has taken every chance to double down on his controversial and unsavoury world views to achieve astounding levels of self-destruction.

Originally breaking into the scene through their hit 'Headstrong' in 2002, Trapt seem to have made the music a secondary factor of their industry presence in recent years. Vocalist Chris Taylor Brown has become an outspoken figure in a number of areas including politics, Covid and even pedophillia. Trapt started causing issues in 2017, when they defended the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, which resulted in the death of a counter protestor. Brown also said that white privilege doesn't exist and accused Bishop Talbert W Swan of having a "victim mentality", because of his black rights activism efforts. Trapt also offer free tickets to members of the neo-fascist group, Proud Boys, who are listed as terrorists by the Canadian government.

However, the biggest explosion of resistance against the band came in 2020, when Brown insinuated that an underage boy sleeping with a much older woman shouldn't be considered as statutory rape. When confronted online, Brown went further by saying:

"A 15 year male and a 25 year old female is not pedophilia, you f*cking moron".

As a result, Trapt had their Facebook and Twitter accounts suspended in November 2020, and to this day have not been reinstated.
