10 More Hugely Outspoken Men In Rock And Metal Music
5. Chris Barnes
Even though the majority of the figures featured in this article have earned their outspoken reputations by branching into politics, Chris Barnes has managed to almost uniquely provoke outrage by staying within the confines of metal.
Formerly of Cannibal Corpse and now the vocalist for Six Feet Under, Barnes kicked up a storm earlier in 2022 when he claimed that modern death metal made him feel "physically ill". The venom of the insults became more potent with every passing social media post, with Barnes exploding into a tormented rage with the following:
I despise what this genre has become.
All the people trolling me, proves my point all the bitch *ss “ media” making headlines off it proves my point.
F*ck y’all to Hell , eat a d*ck on your way down.
Adding to this outlandish statement, Chris also said his former band Cannibal Corpse were (according to a Metal Sucks article) "price-gouging" fans. The same article goes on to suggest that Barnes is "forever overshadowed by the dude who took his old job".
Barnes has now blocked Metal Sucks on Twitter. He also actively refuses to promote other death metal bands and accuses those in the scene who do of being 'shills'. Since his Twitter spats went viral for all the wrong reasons, Barnes has set his account to private and has been losing followers at a consistent rate since February 2022.
