10 More Hugely Outspoken Men In Rock And Metal Music
3. GG Allin
Across all of punk rock music, there is likely no person more vilified than the infamous GG Allin. Some fans say the loose cannon singer was the personification of non-conformism who lived without limits, while others believe he proves exactly why there should be limits.
GG Allin personified extreme lifestyle choices to an extent which will likely never be matched, and his outspoken controversies are nearly endless. Firstly, Allin had multiple relationships with teenage girls, even while he was married from 1978-1985. This trend continued well into his 30's and until his death in 1993. At the time of his death, Allin was dating a 17-year-old girl, while he was 36. Allin also served 16 months in prison from December 1989 for "assault" and causing "great bodily harm" to a sexual partner. By Allin's own admission, he believed he would have been a serial killer were he not a professional musician.
When released from prison he skipped parole to go on tour, where the infamous Space at Chase gig in Manhattan happened. During the show, Allin stripped naked and threw his own faeces at the crowd, then assaulted multiple people and broke a woman's nose with a beer bottle.
Although Allin died in 1993, the vengeful hate for the man did not subside. Allin's grave in New Hampshire was frequently vandalised, generally being doused in alcohol, cigarette butts and urine. This ended in 2010 when his headstone was destroyed.
