10 More Perfect 1980s Hard Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
1. Back To Mystery City - Hanoi Rocks (1983)
Hanoi Rocks were a Finish band who hit it big in the States during the '80s. They were inspired by American acts like The Stooges and MC5. Originally, finding popularity in Europe and Japan, the group eventually broke America, where they began influencing the emerging hair metal scene.
Members of both Guns N' Roses and Mötley Crüe have cited these guys as the real pioneers of the whole glam metal image. For a scene that seems quintessentially American, it's interesting to consider that it had a big Nordic influence. Like their viking forefathers before them, these guys conquered wherever they landed, with teased hair dos and flamboyant clothing.
Their sound was starkly different to their contemporaries like Mötley Crüe, however. Tracks like Tooting Bec Wreck and Back To Mystery City, had many similarities with the post-punk acts of the time. There was also a healthy dose of saxophone peppering the mix. It was the first album to feature the erratically chaotic but ever effective drumming of Razzle. Sadly, he died a year later, after he was involved in a car crash with Vince Neil. This record stands as his legacy.
