10 More Perfect 2000s Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

4. The Black And White Album – The Hives (2007)

Opening up the decade with Veni Vidi Vicious put The Hives on the map. Along with The Strokes and The White Stripes, these guys punched an audible hole in the zeitgeist with short tracks that were as much about attitude as technical ability.

Several years later the immaculately dressed Swedish punk rockers gave the world another much needed injection of no-nonsense punk rock. Flashy guitar solos can go do one, just give us something that pumps you full of energy, and gives you all the confidence to go out and conquer the day. That's what this album was. The opening track, Tick Tick Boom will explode into your consciousness and shock you into the realisation that your dreary office job is no longer worth your time.

But although it was a more polished selection of songs, critics were less enthusiastic about the record than fans. Perhaps the media press had moved on since the hype of their second album, but who needs mainstream music press to tell you a record's great? Stick this on and make your own mind up.
