10 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2016

5. Violent Femmes - Title TBA

Though the "Blisters in the Sun" crew have rarely stopped touring since becoming a band in 1980, the Violent Femmes haven't released an album since 2000's disappointing Freak Magnet. So to have an announcement that the alt-rock weirdos would be releasing a full-length in 2016 (coupled with an excellent EP released earlier this year) is very exciting. To be fair, expectations should be tempered, considering the mixed success rate of their peers (the Pixies dismayed listeners with their half-assed Indy Cindy, while Ween's last album, La Cucaracha was rock solid). The overall lack of info about the upcoming release could also be worrisome, though it's not as if the Femmes have been media darlings for the last couple of decades. Either way, it will be nice to hear from the band that influenced Gnarls Barkley again.
