10 Most Anticipated Metal Albums Of 2018

4. Judas Priest – Firepower

After their double album Nostradamus was met with collective shrugs from their fanbase in 2008, 2014 saw the metal gods Judas Priest regain their mojo with Redeemer of Souls.

Boasting the debut of new guitarist Richie Faulkner – who replaced the band’s co-founder K.K. Downing after his retirement in 2011 – the band’s seventeenth album marked a rejuvenation for the iconic veterans: one that they hope to continue through their next venture, Firepower.

Officially confirmed in October after months of speculation from eager fans, Judas Priest’s illustrious lead singer Rob Halford stirred the hype pot even further when he called the disc “some of our best work, without a doubt.”

While no singles have been unleashed from Firepower as of yet, after over forty years of Priest, it’s more than safe to assume what the album’s going to contain: primarily, ballsy riffs and catchy rock n’ roll sing-alongs that harken back to the glory days of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.

For fans of Redeemer of Souls, then – which is everybody, right? – it sounds like Firepower is going to be nothing short of a belter of an album, plain and simple.
