10 Most Badass Songs Of All Time

3. Pantera - Walk

"Run your mouth when I'm not around, it's easy to achieve / You cry to weak friends that sympathise / Can you hear the violins playing your song? / Those same friends tell me your every word."

Imagine being one of Phil Anselmo's friends, and talking sh*t about him. You'd have to be crazy, or stupid, because this was his response. 'Walk' was his response, and it's fairly ironic, because you'd have run a f*cking mile when you heard it.

The riff to 'Walk' is Dimebag Darrell's masterpiece, and perhaps the masterpiece of heavy metal music itself. Metal is the genre to which disaffected, marginalised teenagers are drawn. 'Walk' best represents its ability to empower. The riff is primal. Elemental. It allows those who believe themselves to be weak to find strength, or to at least pretend, which is sometimes enough. 'Walk' is a vehicle with which to escape, and it's a godd*mn monster truck.

Backed by a formidable rhythm section of sheer power and precision, but one that never feels too precise or too clinical, just assured, 'Walk' is grabbing the face of your oppressor and exploding it.
