10 Most Bizarre Celebrity Cameos In Music Videos

3. Scarlett Johansson - Justin Timberlake's What Goes Around... Comes Around

When Justin Timberlake shot the video for What Goes Around… Comes Around from second album FutureSex/LoveSounds in late 2006, he was known as one of the biggest popstars on the planet who also dipped his toes into acting.

Now, of course, JT is an esteemed actor in his own right, having appeared in The Social Network, Friends with Benefits, and In Time, among others, and being joined in What Goes Around by Scarlett Johansson couldn't have hurt. Black Widow star Johansson, of course, was still a budding actress, but had previously starred in Lost in Translation and Christopher Nolan's The Prestige.

The video was essentially a short film, coming in over nine minutes long, featuring dialogue written by Nick Cassavetes who had directed Timberlake in Alpha Dogs, and directed by Samuel Bayer, previously known for Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Timberlake chases Scarlett Johansson and competes for the Avengers star's affection, with the track pausing several times throughout for dialogue to progress the narrative of their tumultuous romance. The video emulates Elizabeth Taylor movie Butterfield 8, with the chase becoming literal and ending in tragedy.

This music video took three days to shoot, premiered via the iTunes Store in early 2007 - Timberlake being the first major artist to utilise the platform's new feature - and became the fastest-selling promo with 50,000 downloads in four days.

What Goes Around won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Direction and was nominated for Video of the Year, but lost to Umbrella by Rihanna.
