Yet, surely it's a truth universally acknowledged that the only thing that can be completely seen from outer space is the size of Kanye Wests ego.
The worlds foremost appreciator of his own voice and providing all aspiring writers with a synonym for narcissism since 2004, Wests My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy saw Yeezus Christ add yet more controversy to his considerable curriculum vitae. Instructing artist George Condo to create cover art that would be met with widespread disapproval and bans, West was yet again the chief perpetuator of his own infamy, consciously fuelling his burgeoning rock n roll mythos. The cover in question featured a cartoonish painting of the shock-rapper being straddled by a female phoenix, two nude figures sensuously devouring each other.
Retailers complied with Wests aims to list a banned cover amongst his accolades but musical critics and fans were quick to celebrate the records insightful meditations on fame, the American Dream and masculinity. Unfortunately, Kanyes insistence on provocation means that the quality of his music will never be fully appreciated by the masses. And that's through every fault of his own. A real shame.
