10 Most Depressing Music Videos Of The 21st Century

7. Someone You Loved - Lewis Capaldi

While a throughly depressing video worthy of being at the top of this list, the important social message and hint of hope gives this clip a slight reprieve. The music video features a superb performance from former Doctor Who Peter Capaldi, Lewis' uncle, whose character is mourning the death of his wife.

It is this powerhouse performance that puts the downer over the video's actions, even the beautiful moments resonating with incredible grief. Capaldi's ability to depict the loneliness of the now widowed man is phenomenal and a nice reminder of what a bloody great actor he is.

The message at the core of the clip is that from death can come life through the use of organ donation. The moment when Capaldi's character visits the family who have benefitted from the heart transplant is brilliantly executed, especially when he places his had on the beneficiary's chest to feel his wife's heart beat. It's a great message, but such a downer.

With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
