10 Most Disappointing Rock & Metal Albums Of 2020
3. Katatonia - City Burials
As far as Swedish doom metal is concerned, you'll be hard pressed to find a bigger name than Katatonia (not to be confused with the Welsh band, Catatonia). Originally forming in 1991, Katatonia have slowly clawed their way up the ranks of rock and become an internationally recognised band.
Unfortunately, the band's latest album lacks the darkness and force of their prior releases. 'City Burials' is a relatively uneventful record which doesn't exhibit many memorable qualities. 'Fall of Hearts' (2016), was a huge success and helped the band's reputation immensely. Sadly, this success was not replicated and the doom metal community was left feeling underwhelmed by this bleak record.
Even though 'City Burials' peaked at #5 in the Finnish albums chart, it became Katatonia's first album not to chart in the UK since 2009, their first album not to chart in native Sweden since 2003 and only made it into the top 10 of three albums charts worldwide.
