10 Most Embarrassing Boasts In Rap Music

2. Redman - "5 Boroughs"

My paragraph alone is worth five mics A twelve song LP, that's thirty-six mics
Look, there's no shame in being bad at math. It's something a lot of grown adults have trouble with, so Redman is far from the only one. But dude...COME ON. Let's just say, for argument's sake, that one song contains four paragraphs. So if your paragraph is worth five mics, and there are four paragraphs in a song, and you've made an album with twelve songs on it, that's 5 x 4 x 12. And you think that equals...36? If you don't have the capacity for intermediate mental math, at least find someone in the studio who has a damn calculator! Or, at the very least, grab a piece of scratch paper and a pencil and work it out the long way. Were there no writing utensils available? Were you forced to come up with the lyrics on the spot and, if so, did they not have it in the budget to let you re-record the correct answer after anyone with basic knowledge of mathematics heard you make a fool of yourself in the mix? There's no quicker way to take the steam out of your big boast than to have it be glaringly false, even if it ends up you're short-shrifting yourself.
