10 Most Emotional Rock Albums Ever Made
8. The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
What...you thought we were going to talk about emotional albums and not put an actual emo album on the list? Granted, if you look back on most of the Hot Topic brand of emo flooding the rock scene in the '00s, there are more than a few that come off more as whiny these days than anything else. While those bands might have been talking about how much of a problem it was having to go to school, My Chemical Romance had their sights on what happens when we all pass on.
Framing themselves in the vein of classic rock acts, The Black Parade is one of the most bombastic rock operas of the modern age, taking the building blocks of rock and roll's past and creating a sad tale of a man in his dying days. In the story, the narrator has been told he has just 2 weeks to live after a tragic cancer diagnosis, and he spends the rest of the record coming to terms with his own mortality.
On every one of these songs, it feels like you're witnessing another episode of his withdrawal from life, like when he talks about not regretting any of the wrong he's done on Sleep to leaving his lovers behind on I Don't Love You. By the end of the album though, it might not be the final chapter just yet. Just because he might be alone on the edge of reality, that doesn't mean he has to keep walking like that for the rest of his existence.
