10 Most Emotional Rock Albums Ever Made
6. Back in Black - AC/DC
You'd have to really stretch to find any kind of real emotion in AC/DC's music. For most of the hard rock faithful, the emotion is all in the groove that they bring, and that's really all you needed when you were listening to albums like Highway to Hell or Let There Be Rock. While they were close to becoming the ultimate rock band of the '70s, they would have to soldier on without one of their brothers in arms.
As the band started to work on a follow up to Highway to Hell, Bon Scott went on a drinking binge and ended up passing away from alcohol poisoning before the album started to pick up steam. After having to bury their musical brother, Angus and Malcolm Young were determined not to spend the rest of the year moping, going back into the studio with new singer Brian Johnson and making Back in Black as a tribute to Bon's memory.
Though most of the song topics on the album haven't really changed all that much, you can really feel Bon's shadow looming over the rest of the songs, like when the whole album starts with the tolling of a church bell or the title track paying respect to the hard partying lifestyle than Bon was almost too good at leading from time to time. Bon may no longer be on this mortal coil, but if this album proves anything, it's that a bond is rock and roll is unbreakable.
