10 Most Expensive Rock & Metal Albums Ever Made

6. The Darkness: One Way Ticket To Hell...and Back - $1,800,000

Given the fact that this 2005 album is only 35 minutes and ten songs long, its total production costs are genuinely crazy. This isn't the only nuts figure, however, as the work that went into this album was staggering and - you can't help but think - kind of unnecessary given the outcome.

The band recorded 37 songs for the album and for most of the songs as many as 160 different guitar tracks were used. Their producer, Roy Thomas Baker, who once worked with Queen, was given the task of editing over 400 reels of music down to just ten songs. On top of these ridiculous figures, bass player Frankie Poullain left the band early in the production process, and his role had to be filled by Dan Hawkins.

The worst part about all of this is that the finished product received some mixed reviews and the money poured into the project saw very little money made from the project. On a nicer note, Poullain said he liked the album and he loved the song "Hazel Eyes."

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
