10 Most Hated Classic Rock Songs (From Great Bands)

6. Tai Shan - Rush

Rush has always been a band that does whatever the hell they want to do. Throughout their long career, the band dipped their toes into many genres of music regardless of whether it was considered cool or not. Though many fans followed along for the ride, things started to get a bit too overblown during their 80's period.

Once synths became a part of the band's sound, many of their prog rock fans were really turned off and patiently waited until they returned to the hard rock world. While the synth period has some great moments, even the band considers Hold Your Fire being the album that blew everything out of proportion, with "Tai Shan" being the shining example.

Originally composed as an experiment, the song takes different elements of Chinese music and turns them into one of the most mindless compositions that they've ever released. The song also features samples from other tracks on the album, which just makes you think of better songs you could be listening to rather than this. In retrospect, even the band members have considered the song a sore spot, with Geddy Lee claiming they should have known better than to release it. Rush were always one for experimentation, but this is just one of the moments where their broad musical vision came up a bit short.
