10 Most Hated Grunge Albums Of All Time

8. Carnival Of Souls - KISS

A lot of people tend to forget about the resurgence that a lot of classic rock bands started to get towards the tail end of the '90s. From Queen being featured prominently in Wayne's World to Aerosmith scoring the first #1 hit of their career in '98, there was a growing audience looking to go back to glory days of long hair and meaty riffs. KISS ended up thriving in this scene when they decided to put the makeup back on, but that didn't save them from the original album they had planned to release.

Almost buried to the public, Carnival of Souls was eventually released in the late '90s as a bit of a farewell to the makeup-less era of the group. However, this is also not really the kind of KISS you came for, with most of these songs sounding way too dirty. Instead of the shout-along choruses mixed with the pop-flavored rock and roll, this was the sound of a bunch of middle-aged rock stars trying to write a few songs that sounded just a little like Alice in Chains.

Even Paul Stanley himself has not looked back on this record fondly, going so far as to say it was a mistake due to him not being able to relate to the grunge sound. Whereas KISS albums oftentimes feel like an event taking place, this is the one record in their catalog that just...exists. Not horrible...not even too shabby...but NOT KISS!!!
