10 Most Hated Musicians Of All Time
9. Bush
Reason: Not Being Nirvana
Whenever a genre gets big, you'd better believe that the big labels are paying attention. No matter how much integrity may come with a certain subgenre of music, there's always going to be the more money hungry people looking to get a thousand different versions of the same thing. When you're stealing from some of the most raw alternative rock out there though, it's not going to go by unnoticed.
Shortly after Nirvana broke big on the scene, Bush's major label debut Sixteen Stone ended up kicking up a stink in the alternative community. Compared to acts like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, this was alternative rock to the point of parody, with Gavin Rossdale seemingly doing an impression of what he thought a grunge rock star was supposed to do. What made it even lazier was when their second record got produced by Steve Albini, which is basically the exact same move Nirvana made when going into recording In Utero.
It's almost a shame that Bush got the clubbing that they did, considering songs like Glycerine and Machinehead still hold up surprisingly well as the years go by. Despite having some fairly competent tunes and being able to fill the void that was left in the fall of the genre, that doesn't stop Bush from looking like a classic case of grunge-rinse-repeat.
