10 Most Heartbreaking Tragedies In Rock Music
2. Kurt Cobain's Suicide
It's never easy for fans to move on after losing their favorite musician. Though death is a part of life, it always hits harder when you really feel like you connected with someone on a spiritual level that transcends just music. While everyone has their favorite bands, having the voice of a generation silenced forever was a whole lot more than most listeners could bare.
In the final few months of his life, people could tell that Kurt Cobain was in a really bad way, being hooked on heroin and getting more and more depressed on Nirvana's tour for In Utero. Though things seemed to smooth out during a break in the action, Kurt originally overdosed on pills in Rome before being resuscitated at a local hospital. However, that was only the tip of the iceberg.
Forced into rehab by his management, the grunge icon stayed for only a few days before hopping the fence and returning to his Seattle home, where he was found just a few days later from an apparent shotgun blast to the head. Instead of the traditional rock sendoff, alternative fans held vigils across the country, deeply saddened by the loss of their beloved icon. Even though Kurt seemed to be in a poor state of mind, no one would have imagined ending up here.
