10 Most Iconic British Frontmen In Rock Music History

1. Freddie Mercury - Queen

Of course, it was always going to be Freddie Mercury. Who else could rock a white vest and jeans like Freddie?

The man that could hold a crowd of thousands in the palm of his hands, according to David Bowie. Freddie Mercury is unquestionably Britain's, if not the western worlds, greatest frontmen of all time.

Born into a Parsi-Indian family, Freddie Mercury became one of Britain's most celebrated and adored musical icons. Other than his remarkable talent for creating innovative and genre defying music - Bohemian Rhapsody needing its honourable mention around about now - he was noted and praised for making each and every audience member feel like he was singing for and to them.

Audience participation was where he drew his energy from, particularly towards the end of his life, when he continued performing despite becoming increasingly ill.

It was no surprise that Freddie would appear on this list, and it does him little justice to waste words trying convey why he is considered the greatest of all frontmen. Far better to just watch his performance at Live Aid in 1985.

Freddie you are missed by all.
