10 Most Iconic British Frontmen Of 1990s Rock Music
5. Jarvis Cocker - Pulp
The peak of the Britpop movement felt like getting a crash course in all of the great British pop that came out of the past 30 years. While you had people that were cribbing their notes from everyone from the Beatles to the Kinks, there were still many different layers to Britain than the '60s Revolution. So it's only natural that someone like Jarvis Cocker gave us a modern update on David Bowie.
From a physical standpoint, there was no way that people would have bet on this guy being a rockstar, complete with a gangly physique than made him feel more like a dork that got shoved into a locker in high school. When you listen to what he can do on songs like Common People, this is the kind of raw charisma that is impossible to duplicate, even when going for straight love songs on tracks like Something Changed.
Even though this kind of thing could come off as showy and a bit vapid at worst, here's a little lesson for you. Jarvis was a proper geezer who managed to write a song with the lyrics "I've kissed your mother twice and now I'm working on your dad" and not look like a complete idiot at the end of the day. Once you've come back from something like that, it's clear that you're the one who holds all the cards.
