7. Mike Patton Replaces Chuck Mosley - Faith No More
Rap metal, nu metal, funk metal, call them what you will, just call Faith No More a success.
The band were one of the forerunners of alternative rock in the 1980s, paving the way for the genre's explosion in the following decade. But this wasn't always how things were for them.
They actually started off a post-punk band, then had a brief stint with Courtney Love at the helm, before settling on vocalist Chuck Mosley for their first two albums.
However, things were not all smiles and rainbows for dear old Chucky.
Mosley began acting erratically in 1988, allegedly punching bandmate Billy Gould on stage and falling asleep during a release party for one of their records. This all proved too much and Mosley was let go.
In came Mike Patton, lead singer of a high school band called Mr. Bungle. Within two weeks of joining, Patton has written most of the lyrics to their biggest album yet, The Real Thing.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Patton's writing, vocal delivery, and stage presence all contributed to the massive success Faith No More experienced in the years following his arrival.
