10 Most Important Member Changes In Rock Music History

3. Lindsey Buckingham & Stevie Nicks Replace Bob Welch - Fleetwood Mac

It's easy to forget that Fleetwood Mac had a life before the album Rumours.

The group was founded by Peter Green, John Spencer, and Mick Fleetwood (after whom it's named) who added John McVie to the line-up in time for their 1968 debut album.

Over the next decade or so, the members chopped and changed. By 1974, the band consisted of Fleetwood, McVie, his wife Christine, and guitar player Bob Welch.

After a troubled recording process for the album Heroes Are Hard to Find, Welch left the band after falling out with the McVies. The group were facing turmoil yet again, until their prayers were answered one day in a recording studio.

Upon entering the venue, the group heard the song Frozen Love playing over the speakers. Eventually, they found out the tune they liked so much was the product of a young couple - Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

After Buckingham and Nicks were added to the band, Fleetwood Mac really hit it big. The first album to the feature the classic line-up was a total smash with Rumours following on just two years later.

Funny how fate works sometimes.
