10 Most Infamous Shows In Rock History

8. Queens of the Stone Age at Rock Am Ring 2001

Every so often, you have a show that just seems slated to fail. No matter how hard you might try to put your all into the performance, there's bound to be something on the horizon that seems to go off without a hitch. While some may be able to recover from this, Queens of the Stone Age's performance is one of the few cases where EVERYTHING went to hell.

At the time, Queens were just recently coming off of a little bit of mainstream success from their latest album Rated R, and yet that magic didn't rub off once they got to Rock Am Ring. From the start, this show was marred by technical difficulties, the least of which was a smoke machine that refused to shut off during their set in spite of Josh Homme's requests. On the other hand, there were also massive system failures, with Mark Lanegan's microphone not being plugged in for almost all of his vocal showcases.

Though they played their best poker faces while onstage, it's not like Homme and co. weren't unaware of the trainwreck they had in front of them. Since then, both Homme and Nick Oliveri got tattoos of the concert date etched into their flesh to commemorate their darkest time onstage. The Queens might have started to pick up steam a year later, but this is still one of the most cringe-worthy shows for any roadie to witness.
