10 Most Infamous Shows In Rock History

7. The Doors' Final Show

Every move that the Doors made on stage felt truly dangerous in the late '60s. Despite their darker tunes of death and destruction, the strutting nature of Jim Morrison left most teenagers enthralled and parents absolutely disgusted. Though Morrison has been known as the quintessential rock idol, his onstage demise truly was a long, slow death.

As the Doors were finishing up their album LA Woman, they were splitting up the mixing sessions with playing a few shows, one of which was in Morrison's home state of Florida. With the rest of the chaos starting to get underway inside the venue, you got to hear Morrison's onstage persona get uncomfortably dark. Instead of the usual spectral poetry we were used to, Morrison absolutely exploded on the crowd, comparing them to slaves being told what to like and what is popular by those superior to them. That was only the beginning though, as he slowly started to expose himself onstage, after which he was arrested by police.

This kind of rockstar behavior almost seems quaint nowadays, but this was the sign of much more dangerous things to come. Pianist Ray Manzarak has spoken at length about this being the moment where he could feel all of Jim's creative spirit leave his body. After the legal system got involved though, it signaled not just the end of the Doors performing career, but also Morrison himself, who would die shortly after the sessions for LA Woman.
