10 Most Infamous Shows In Rock History
5. Metallica in Montreal 1992
The tour between Guns N Roses and Metallica almost seemed slated to fail just as soon as it was getting started. Though both acts were at the top of their respective games thanks to Use Your Illusion and Black Album respectively, it was also the beginning of a lot of excess running amok. In fact, you can occasionally find yourself walking a bit too close to the fire.
As the rock and roll circus ducked into Montreal, Metallica's set was cut short when James Hetfield was badly burned after accidentally standing over a canister of flames during Fade to Black. For as much as Guns N Roses could have saved the day by playing a massive performance, this just became an excuse for Axl Rose to let his ego run wild, cutting his own show short after running into problems with the monitors and his own throat trouble.
While the Canadian people are known to be a patient bunch, this was not something to be taken lightly, with most of the crowd storming into the stands and causing a riot in and out of the venue, with cops in riot gear arriving to calm everything down. Despite having two of the biggest bands coming together for a once in a lifetime event, this one tour date still hasn't stopped being infamous after 30 years.
