10 Most Influential Electronic Rock Artists
7. The Prodigy
Of all the bands on this list so far, you never mistook them for anything else other than rock. Even when you have some bands like Chvrches turning the fabric of rock and roll inside out, they wouldn't be too out of place with the goth rock bands that we got used to back in the early '80s like the Cure. When it comes to the Prodigy though, they made their way into the world of rock on electronica's terms.
Because for all intents and purposes, Liam Howlett is an electronic artist first and foremost, looking to make something that will get the crowd moving instead of writing something that will make your head bang. Once Keith Flint became a part of the equation though, you started to see a lot more theatrics come into the mix, going from a traditional hype man to someone who could hold his own next to some of the best rock frontmen of the time.
You also have to remember that this was back in the mid '90s, when the idea of a rock and roll frontman was a lot more alien than the grunge rock that we had become used to at the time. When things were doom and gloom, rock could still be fun, even if it meant going to a completely different genre to get it.
