10 Most Memorable Beefs In Rap Music History
8. Eminem And Machine Gun Kelly
If there was ever a set of golden rules for rappers starting their careers, there's a good chance that one of them would be not to mess with Eminem, or mention his daughter in a song.
Machine Gun Kelly clearly didn't get the memo, and in 2012 posted a tweet stating that he thought Slim Shady's daughter was hot. Many thought that Eminem let it slide, but in 2015, MGK stated that Eminem had banned him from his own radio station, Shade 45. Em denied ever banning MGK from his radio station and said that he never even thought about MGK, or cared about his career at all, let alone enough to sabotage it.
Later, on his track Not Alike, Shady says, "I'm talkin' to you but you already know who the f**k you are, Kelly/ I don't use sublims and sure as f**k don't sneak diss/ But keep commenting on my daughter, Hailie."
This prompted MGK to release his own diss titled Rap Devil, in which he called out Eminem for being washed up and out of touch. Shady fired back with the aptly named, Killshot, which proved why rappers have been scared of going toe to toe with him since the 90s. Apparently he wrote the track in less than thirteen minutes, which doesn't seem like enough time to cut someone right down to size, but for one of the greatest to ever do it, it was more than adequate.
The music video for Killshot even broke YouTube streaming records, by garnering the most views in the first 24 hours for a hip-hop video, and the third for music videos overall, proving that however old he may be, that Eminem is still a force to be reckoned with.
