10 Most Memorable Beefs In Rap Music History
7. Drake And Pusha T
This is one of the most recent beefs on this list, but due to how it went down, it's safe to say that it's definitely going to go down as one of the most iconic in history.
It all started in the early 2010s when Pusha T took umbrage with the fact that Drake was claiming to be one of the greats, while using ghostwriters. Things escalated when Lil Wayne - who was Drake's mentor and gave him his start in the industry - got involved and came to the support of his protege. Drake also fired a shot of his own on Tuscan Leather, saying, "I'm just as famous as my mentor/But that's still the boss, don't get set for/Get hype on tracks and jump in front of a bullet you wasn't meant for/Bench players talkin' like starters, I hate it." It's not hard to connect the dots and see who Drizzy is talking about here.
in 2018, The beef hit boiling point when Pusha T released his album, Daytona, which featured more sneak disses aimed at Drake. Drake responded by drafting an invoice for "promotional assistance and career reviving," and billed it to Pusha T. It was creative, but not enough to win the war, and Pusha T hit back by releasing The Story of Adidon.
The track exposed Drake's secret son to the world, and Push accuses Drake of being a deadbeat dad. The song was named after a rumoured collaboration Drake had planned with Adidas, and his son, Adonis was supposed to feature heavily in the marketing. The collaboration never came to fruition and Pusha T can be credited with being the reason as to why.
Drake never responded to The Story of Adidon, and openly admitted that he lost the battle with Pusha T. It's probably for the best that he just took this one on the chin and didn't make it worse for himself.
