N.W.A's rise and fall is a wild tale full of moving parts that all individually contributed to the group's eventual breakup.

The first cracks began to appear when Ice Cube noticed the preferential treatment that Eazy-E received from their manger, Jerry Heller. Ice Cube felt that he was due more in royalties than what he was getting because he was the group's main songwriter, and wrote many of their now iconic lyrics. He decided the leave the group and pursue a solo career instead.

The departure was not amicable in the slightest and the rest of the group felt betrayed by Ice Cube. Ice Cube responded by releasing No Vaseline, a brutal record filled with blistering insults that no member of N.W.A was safe from. Cube even took shots at Heller on the track and the song is credited with being one of the main reasons that Ice Cube's solo career was so successful.

Years later, the untimely passing of Eazy-E brought the remaining members of the group back together and they have since reconciled. The group have taken their rightful place in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame, and performed together at Coachella in 2016.
