10 Most Outspoken Men In Rock And Metal History

9. Kid Rock

Although there are many musicians in the world who hold their cards to their chest when it comes to expressing their political views, Kid Rock certainly isn't one of them. Throughout his career which spans over two decades, the Michigan born rap rock and country musician has been no stranger to kicking up a fuss, as we will come to see.

Kid Rock rose to fame in the early 2000s initially as a hip hop act, but soon transitioned away into the realms of country and rock. His first slip up came in 2004 thanks to his halftime Super Bowl performance, where he cut a hole in the American flag and wore it as a poncho. As a result, he earned CBS a lawsuit from the Veterans of Foreign Wars on grounds of flag defacement.

Three years later, Kid was cited for 'misdemeanour and battery' after an altercation with Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee at the MTV Awards. Kid Rock continued to pick fights with celebrities leading into 2015, when he hurled verbal abuse at Seth Rogan over his comments relating to the film American Sniper. On his website, he told Rogan that "your uncle probably molested you" and hoped that he would "catch a fist to the face".

Beyond this, Kid Rock has been slammed for using the confederate flag in his stage act, his stance on transgender rights, and attending 'superspreader' political rallies during the peak of Covid-19. Yet, he remains a well followed musician across the United States.
