10 Most Popular ANTI-Rockstars

7. Michael Anthony - Van Halen

There's nothing about Van Halen that you couldn't describe as larger than life. Ever since breaking onto the scene with their impressive debut outing, every single one of these guys had the potential to be a solo star in their own right, from David Lee Roth's charismatic performances to Eddie Van Halen's amazing tapping spectacles in between shows. When bringing up these classic rockers though, Michael Anthony seems to slip under the bar in terms of raw charisma.

That's not to say he doesn't a personality of his own though. Across most of Van Halen's records, Anthony has made his presence known behind the mic with his trademark high pitched backing vocals. On the other hand, there's probably a good portion of the Van Halen fanbase who's knowledge of the man begins and ends at his Jack Daniel's style bass guitar.

That's because...well...he's not really a rockstar. Not in the traditional sense at least. Compared to the more diva behavior you'd find in other over the top acts, Anthony's approach to his craft has always been in the right place, as a down to earth dude having fun at a great big party. As far back as getting the band together, Anthony still contests that he was along for the ride and happy to try and keep up with his fellow musicians. For as many drama queens are present in rock and roll, sometimes it's nice to have the one normal dude out to have a good time.
